A new study out by the travel industry says millions of people want to go green on vacation.

A growing number of destinations are making eco-friendly travel possible.

"Being green has become very fashionable," said Rose White of AAA Nebraska.

RezHub.com has a site dedicated to showing travels how and where to vacation green. Find greener flights, book hybrid rental cars and take part in carbon offsetting programs. If you book a green vacation on RezHub.com, it will donate some of the proceeds to an environmentally conscious organization.

A growing list of green hotels are also listing green credentials, including one in Nebraska City.

The Lied Lodge and Conference Center takes a number of measures to be kind to Mother Earth, including transport from Omaha's Eppley Airfield -- about 50 miles away -- in hybrid cars.

"Everything they do throughout the building is used in a conservation effort," White said.

AAA Nebraska travel agents are also seeing green requests from customers.

When mapping out your next vacation, there are all sorts of ways to go green, from unplugging appliances before leaving home, to doing little things during your trip.

"Even while you're consuming food along you trip, avoid Styrofoam cups. If you have a bottle of water, save the empty bottle, refill it as you're going along, numerous things you can do," White said.
