BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The winds of change have been gusting across Green Horn Mountain this winter, KERO reported.
A group of seven Bakersfield businessmen purchased the Shirley Meadows Ski Resort last year with promises to bring the facility up-to-date, without losing the family feel.
The owners said they will bring the resort into the 21st century.
While still putting skiers first, a new snowboard park tempts daredevils with a variety of rails and jumps.
According to KERO, Mother Nature has been kind to the new owners. Last season, Shirley Meadows was open for only 12 days. Since Dec. 27, 2003, the resort has been open nearly 30 days.
The owners plan to keep the resort open until the first week in March, with a four-day weekend beginning Friday.
