SAN DIEGO -- An art department technician at Cal State, Bakersfield, is painting a different picture of who should be running for governor in California.
David "Laughing Horse" Robinson, (pictured, left), is a Democrat and chairman of the Kweye-Soo tribe. He is against the recall but said if Gov. Gray Davis is voted out, then he will be the only real option available.
He said he is frustrated with cuts in education that lead to tuition increases while cutting services, health care and disabled and elderly care. He also wants to bring business back to California.
"I love California. I'm the first Native American to run for governor in California," Robinson said.
Robinson is planning a true grassroots campaign by walking from town to town. He said he may have to sell his car to raise the $3,500 fee needed to run in the special election. He told KERO he has the 65 votes needed to register as a candidate.
In the past two months, Robinson has already traveled to Eureka, Sacramento, Los Angeles and the Mojave Desert.
